June 11, (THEWILL) — Members of Nigeria’s entertainment industry on Wednesday, June 10, gathered in large numbers for the service of songs of late actor Alexx Ekubo in Lagos.
The event was held at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, with guests dressed in white as requested by the family.
Ekubo died on May 11, 2026, after a battle with kidney cancer.
Friends and dignitaries were also present to pay tribute to his life and career.
Attendees included Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, Nancy Isime, Ruth Kadiri, Stan Nze, IK Ogbonna, Kunle Remi, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, singer Chike, and Cubana Chief Priest.
Gospel ministers, including Pastor Jerry Eze, Ituah Ighodalo, Nathaniel Bassey, Moses Bliss, Mercy Chinwo, Peterson Okopi, and Ebuka Songs, led prayers and worship.
The Ekubo family had earlier announced the funeral arrangements and asked the public to continue praying for them during the mourning period.
The burial programme will continue in Abia State, with a wake scheduled for June 17 and interment set for June 18 in his hometown of Arochukwu.
