Nine Killed As Truck Rams Into Passenger Bus In Benin

September 21, (THEWILL) – At least nine persons have been confirmed killed in a fatal accident on Tuesday morning along Sapele road by Ogbelaka junction in Benin-city, the Edo State capital.

THEWILL gathered that a truckload conveying sharp sand, rammed into a moving commercial bus, popularly called “Tuke-Tuke”.

The truck,  eye witnesses, said  had a brake failure and rammed over the commercial bus, killing nine persons, before hitting another truck.

The incident  which happened at about 7.30 am was said to have led to serious traffic congestion along  the ever busy Sapele road.

Men of the Edo state police command and some vigilante group were however on ground to restore normalcy to the area.

At the time of filing this report, all the dead victims have been deposited in the mortuary, while survivors with severe injuries are in the intensive care unit of the Edo specialist hospital in Benin city.
