July 29, (THEWILL) – The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has disclosed that more than 60 million unique National Identification Number (NIN) have been issued and are now in the National Identity Database (NIDB).
The commission said the feat could not have been possible without the cooperation of all stakeholders, including the general public.
NIMC, in a statement its Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, said the transformational value of a robust and inclusive foundational ID system in todayās world cannot be overstated.
Adegoke said, as a Commission, āweāre committed to keeping this momentum of scaling up and speeding up NIN issuance nationwide for better identification, authentication and improved service delivery. It is the Primary Identification for all citizens and legal residents.ā
He commended the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, for his leadership in driving the programmes of the commission, emphasised that NIN remains āthe Primary Identification for all citizens and legal residentsā.
