Nigerian Group Protests In UN Headquarters

September 14, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS), an umbrella body of self-determination groups in the South-West, South-South, South-East and Middle Belt, have arrived at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

THEWILL reports that the Group had scheduled a one-million-man protest in front of the UN Headquarters, to demand for a referendum on self-determination and abolition of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

The protest, the Group said will commence today, at the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), currently ongoing in New York, United States.

Chairman of the Group, Professor Banji Akintoye, had said the protest is meant to show to the world the genocide being perpetrated by murderous herdsmen in the name of grazing in the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria.

He said the people of the South and Middle-Belt want to show to the world te crimes against humanity, attacks on press freedom, free speech and other criminalities being aided by the Buhari led government of Nigeria.

NINAS is the umbrella body for self-determination Groups in the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria with Ilana Omo Oodua representing the Yoruba Land, Lower Niger Congress representing the South South and South East and Middle-Belt Renaissance Movement representing the Middle Belt Region.
