February 28, (THEWILL) – Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, made another history on Tuesday, when he was declared as the winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Delta State.
In the result announced on Tuesday, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Collation Officer in Delta State, Prof Abraham Georgewill Owuneri, Obi’s LP polled 341,866 to beat his closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), whose vice presidential candidate is the incumbent Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.
While the PDP scored 161,600 votes to come second, APC scored 90,183 to occupy third place in the state. The candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) came distant fourth with 3,122 votes.
According to INEC, out of 667,149 accredited voters, 654,650 votes were recorded. It added that 615,199 votes were recorded as valid, while 39,309 votes were rejected.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party (LP) also won Saturday’s presidential election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Peter Obi’s LP secured 281,717 votes to defeat Bola Tinubu of the APC, who polled 90,902 votes, and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who scored 74,194 votes.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) polled 4,517 votes.
A total of 478,923 people were accredited to vote in Abuja. While Obi secured about 59 percent of the votes cast, neither Tinubu (19 percent) nor Atiku (15 percent) scored up to 25 percent of the votes in the FCT.
