February 27, (THEWILL) – Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has been declared the winner of the Yobe North Senatorial Election held on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
INEC Returning Officer, Professor Omolola Aduoju, announced the result at Umar Suleiman College of Education, Gashua, Sunday night.
Lawan polled 91,318 votes, representing 74.7 percent of the total valid votes (122,193), to defeat his closest rival, Bello Ilu of PDP, who polled 22,849 votes
According to the Special Adviser (Media) to the Senate President, Ola Awoniyi: “This is the seventh parliamentary election won consecutively by Lawan into the National Assembly since 1999, the first two of which gave him a ticket to the House of Representatives, while the last five gave him a ticket to the Senate.”
Meanwhile, Labour Party (LP) candidate for the Enugu North Senatorial District election, Okey Ezea, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s election.
Ezea was declared the winner after defeating the incumbent governor of the state and the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The result of the election as announced by the returning officer, Prof. Chukwuemeka Ubaka, showed Ezea polled a total of 104, 492 votes to defeat Ugwuanyi of the PDP, who polled 46, 948 votes to emerge second. The APC candidate, Eze Simon, announced 6,816 votes.
