January 04, (THEWILL) – The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has expressed his shock at the sudden death of Sir Ephraim Chukwuemeka, the chairman of the Abia State Football Association.

In a statement, Gusau said: “Sir Chukwuemeka represented the vintage old guard in the NFF Congress and blessed us all with his wisdom, deep knowledge and understanding of the game of football, its rules, its management and its intricacies. We will all miss him dearly.”

Chukwuemeka was a respected former referee and had served as chairman of the State FA for many years. He died on Tuesday morning in the capital of Abia State, Umuahia. Gusau said he had spoken to him just over a week ago and had no idea it would be their last conversation.

The NFF President also extended his condolences to Chukwuemeka’s family, friends, and the Nigeria football fraternity, and prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give those he has left behind the strength to cope with their loss.
