The Nigeria Football Federation disclosed on Thursday in a statement on its website that the football governing body has approved the committee's appointment.

The joint assessment mission, which began on Monday, September 14, brings FIFA and CAF officials into discussions with Nigerian football stakeholders following a wave of resignations that has left the NFF facing questions over its leadership structure, governance and electoral process.

The two governing bodies are also preparing to send a joint delegation to Abuja as they seek to establish what happened, following the mass resignation of senior NFF officials and determine the appropriate next steps.

Gusau's resignation on Thursday, August 27, comes after a difficult period for Nigerian football, during which the country's national teams have suffered a number of setbacks.
