Nasarawa Assembly Elects New Speaker

December 01, (THEWILL) – The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has elected Danladi Jatau, the All Progressives Congress (APC) member, representing Kokona East state constituency, as the new Speaker.

The House, also elected Mohammed Oyanki, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, representing Doma South State constituency, as deputy speaker.

Jatau was unanimously elected speaker unopposed on Friday by members of the Assembly, following the judgment of the Appeal Court in Abuja, which sacked the former speaker, Ibrahim Balarebe Abdullahi on Tuesday.

Reacting, Jatau, who promised to unite the assembly also said he would sustain the cordial working relationship between the legislature and Executive.

He appreciated the members for the confidence reposed in him.
