BEVERLY HILLS, June 04, (THEWILL) – Controversial Nigerian singer, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, has offered to sing the new national anthem of the proposed United Africa Republic.
THEWILL recalls that it was proposed that Nigeria’s name be changed to United Africa Republic or United Alkebulan Republic as Nigeria (UAR).
According to reports, the House of Representatives’ Special Committee on Constitution Review has received a proposal to change Nigeria’s name to the United African Republic.
The proposal was reportedly submitted by a tax consultant, Adeleye Jokotoye, on Wednesday.
According to Jokotoye, a change of name for the country would physically and psychologically reflect a new beginning.
This development sparked social media reactions as many Nigerians took to the micro-blogging platform to express their views concerning the development.
Joining the fray, Naira Marley promised to compose the National anthem which will contain the new name of the country if it is approved.
”Omo Na me go sing the new national Anthem for UAR,” Naira Marley wrote.
