February 23, (THEWILL) – West Ham manager, David Moyes, has revealed that he has been offered a new contract by the English Premier League club, but is yet to decide whether he will extend his stay in east London beyond this season.
The 60-year-old is nearing the end of his current deal with the Hammers after joining for a second spell in charge in 2019. However, recent poor form which has seen West Ham fail to win any of their matches in 2023, so far, including a humiliating 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal, has led to fan criticism of the Scottish coach.
West Ham currently sits 9th in the EPL table on 36 points from 25 games ahead of their next fixture at home to 14th-placed Brentford on Monday. Moyes also confirmed Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta is close to returning from injury and could feature against The Bees.
“There’s a contract there for me, I’m the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season, to make sure everything is correct, and concentrate on this season”, Moyes told reporters. “I’ve enjoyed my four years. I’ll see my contract out.”
The former Everton and Manchester United manager will be hoping to guide the Hammers to an improved run of form before deciding his response to the new deal, starting with securing a positive result against Brentford.
