BEVERLY HILLS, CA, December 24, (THEWILL) – The former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and ex Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Peter Jasper Akinola, who was earlier abducted by gunmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has been freed, the state government said on Tuesday night.
The government said Akinola was freed by security men attached to the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, following a rescue operation.
The government further described the incident as armed robbery and refuted that it was kidnapping as previously reported in the media.
