The vacant seat left behind by Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, in the House of Representatives is yet to be filled, but fingers are already pointing in the direction of Fuad Kayode-Laguda, a rising political figure, as his eventual replacement.
Political analysts believe that Kayode-Laguda who is currently the Chairman of Surulere Local Government council, should be the perfect person to represent the interests of Surulere 1 Federal Constituency. He has already started throwing his weight around, having accepted the challenge and commitment to a higher political calling.
A former staff of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) where he earned the appellation, consummate tax administrator, his exceptional career trajectory caught the attention of Babatunde Fowler, a former chairman of the revenue generating agency.
Serving as Fowler’s Personal Assistant in LIRS, Kayode-Laguda showed early signs that he was destined for a life of politics. As his name gains momentum and attention on the national stage, all eyes are on him, filled with hope and high-level expectancy. Hopefully, if he does win the bye-election, come next month, he will be perceived as a beacon of hope for the younger generation.
