March 24, (THEWILL) – Conor McGregor was apprehended for reckless driving in Ireland on Tuesday and was reportedly arrested with the UFC star’s vehicle seized.
McGregor was stopped by gardai, the state police force of the Republic of Ireland, in West Dublin while driving his $187,000 Bentley Continental.
The martial arts professional was said to have been pulled over by police, arrested, and charged with multiple driving offences, as well as having his vehicle impounded.
He was eventually charged with dangerous driving, which carries a potential financial penalty as well as a jail sentence of up to six months in Ireland. However, after being charged and released on bail, the former UFC two-division champion received his vehicle back.
This is not the first time McGregor has gotten into trouble in Ireland because of his driving habits. He was previously fined and lost his licence in 2018 after allegedly speeding over 154 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. McGregor had been charged for speeding a year before and had paid a fine of $440.
The 33-year-old fighter broke his leg in his most recent fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 and is presently rehabbing at home in Ireland.
McGregor has been working hard on his recuperation and is anticipated to return to the ring by the end of the year.
