October 21, (THEWILL) – Kylian Mbappe was back among the goal scorers as Paris St Germain comfortably defeated Strasbourg 3-0 at home on Saturday. The France forward converted an early penalty to give PSG the lead after just 10 minutes. It was Mbappe’s seventh league goal of the season.
Mbappe turned provider for PSG’s second goal just after the half-hour mark. His trickery set up midfielder Carlos Soler, who finished well from close range to double the hosts’ advantage going into halftime.
PSG continued to control proceedings after the break. Mbappe went close to netting a second but was denied by Strasbourg goalkeeper, Matz Sels. The visitors briefly threatened when defender Gerzino Nyamsi forced a good save from Gianluigi Donnarumma.
However, Strasbourg were unable to find a way back into the match. PSG sealed the win in the 77th minute through midfielder Fabian Ruiz. He combined well with Ousmane Dembele and Carlos Soler before firing home from inside the box.
The victory made it back-to-back league wins for PSG, who climbed to the top of the Ligue 1 standings. Mbappe’s early penalty set the tone for a comfortable afternoon at the Parc des Princes as they overcame struggling Strasbourg.
