BEVERLY HILLS, March 10, (THEWILL) – A High Court sitting in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State has sentenced a 31-year-old Mr. Edidiong Pius Ototi to death by hanging, for killing his father, Mr. Pius David Ototi, whom he labelled a “Warlock.”

Presided over by Justice Augustine Odokwo, Ototi was found guilty of murder, which is punishable by death, under section 326 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Akwa Ibom State 2000.

Reading the Sentence, the Judge, who was dressed in black with a Sentence Cap, held that Ototi be hanged by the neck until he was pronounced dead.

“May God have mercy upon your soul,” the Judge prayed.

He however expressed satisfaction that the prosecution team from the State Ministry of Justice had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt that the accused committed the offence.

It is on record that the condemned Edidiong Ototi, A Native Of Ikot Akwa In Obot Akara Local Government Area, had admitted in his confessional statement at the police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, that he killed and buried his father in a pit toilet on November 18, 2018.

In his judgement, which lasted for over one hour, Justice Odokwo stated that Ototi had no right under the law to take the life of his 60-year-old Father.

Edidiong Ototi had accused his father, Mr. Pius Ototi, of being responsible for the untimely death of his two children, hence the resolve to eliminate him.
