August 17, (THEWILL) — Max Verstappen is preparing for an emotional farewell to his home race with a special helmet and race suit designed specifically for the final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
The annual Formula 1 event at Verstappen’s home circuit is set to disappear from the calendar after the 2026 season, with rising costs and a lack of government funding among the factors behind the decision.
The four-time world champion will therefore have one final opportunity to race in front of the famous Dutch supporters who have turned Zandvoort into one of the most vibrant venues on the Formula 1 calendar.
To mark the occasion, Verstappen will arrive at the circuit wearing a unique Red Bull race suit featuring a black base with orange detailing across the shoulders.
His teammate Isack Hadjar will also wear a special version of the suit, although his design will feature white detailing instead.
The drivers’ race numbers will also be incorporated into the design in the shape of a wave, a subtle tribute to Zandvoort’s coastal setting and the character of the Dutch circuit. Red Bull described the special outfits as a fitting way to mark an occasion that is unlikely to be repeated.
Verstappen has gone even further with his tribute to the circuit, unveiling a distinctive helmet for his final home race.
The blue-and-white design takes inspiration from Delft, the Dutch city famous for its traditional Delftware pottery, giving the helmet a strong connection to his homeland.
“For my last home race. Dankjewel Zandvoort,” Verstappen wrote while revealing the helmet, making clear just how significant the weekend will be for him and his supporters.
The design has already generated considerable excitement among Verstappen’s fanbase.
A clothing collection inspired by the same Delft theme reportedly sold out quickly after being released, highlighting the level of interest surrounding what could be the final Dutch Grand Prix.
Zandvoort has become synonymous with Verstappen since his emergence as the biggest name in Dutch motorsport.
His success has transformed the event into one of Formula 1’s most popular races, with thousands of members of the famous “Orange Army” travelling to the circuit each year to support their home hero.
That support will be particularly important this time, with Verstappen arriving at his home race in an unusual position.
The Red Bull driver sits sixth in the 2026 championship standings with 109 points and has yet to win a race this season.
His best result so far came immediately before the summer break when he finished second at the Hungarian Grand Prix, giving him his fourth podium of the campaign.

The final Dutch race also carries a sense of uncertainty beyond the weekend itself.
With the event being removed from the calendar after this season, there is no guarantee that Verstappen or his fans will get another opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere created by the Dutch Grand Prix.
