October 09, (THEWILL) – The chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages management committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, along with other supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday, held a five-million-man rally in the State.

The rally, also meant to show support for the second-term ambition of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, commenced at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and ended at Oshodi with heavy presence of security operatives.

During the rally, two Fuji musicians, Sulaimon Adio, popularly known as Atawewe and Sulaimon Adekunle Alao, popularly known as Malaika, joined to show their solidarity for Tinubu.

Also, some Nollywood stars including Saidi Balogun, Foluke Daramola and Damola Olatunji, joined the crowd of supporters in the rally.

Speaking with newsmen, Oluomo described the gathering as a mini show of strength by Tinubu’s supporters.

“We just want Lagosians and Nigerians to know that our father, Asiwaju Tinubu, has millions of supporters. This is just the tip of the iceberg. We are not fully out yet. By the time the election dates draw nearer, Nigerians will see our true colour.

“We’ll deliver massive votes for Asiwaju Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu in Lagos”, he said.

On his part, the APC Lagos House of Assembly Candidate in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I, Otunba Stephen Ogundipe, said this is just the beginning.

“This is just a rehearsal for Nigerians to see what we’re capable of delivering. We don’t just talk, we walk the talk. This is our Lagos. You can do whatever you want in another state, but Eko ni won pe bi.

“We’ll show Nigerians that our love and support for Asiwaju Tinubu is massive. He’s a great man and an achiever. He had a great vision for Lagos State and delivered. Now, it’s time for Nigeria to tap from his wealth of wisdom by voting him as the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, Ogundipe said.

One of the leaders of the APC supporting Groups in Surulere, Waheed Seriki, said the walk became imperative to demonstrate the massive support for the Presidential aspiration of Asiwaju Tinubu.

He said the former Lagos Governor, who laid the foundation for the progressive development of the state is capable of replicating such at the Federal level.

On his part, Olakunle Banjo of the APC Progressives Union, said Tinubu is well prepared to change the narrative of the challenges facing the nation if elected in 2023.

According to him, some areas that should enjoy priority of the incoming administration include insecurity, power generation and employment creation.

The rally caused traffic gridlocks along Funsho Williams avenue, Yaba-Ikorodu road and other neighbouring communities of Surulere.

Earlier, the State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA, advised motorists from Eko Bridge inwards Surulere to pass through the stadium bridge to Funsho Williams avenue and connect to their destination through Ojuelegbe to Lawanson-Itire road.

The advisory reads: “The journey commences from Stadium under the bridge through Funsho Williams Avenue to connect Ikorodu road to Oshodi by Anthony bus stop.

“From Anthony bus stop by Theodolite- GT Bank to connect Anthony Bridge straight down to Oshodi.

“Summary; Stadium under the bridge to Funsho Williams avenue to Ikorodu road to Anthony bus by Theodolite-GT Bank to Anthony bridge to Oshodi.

“In view of the above illustrations, motorists are advised to make use of the following routes because of the temporary closure and diversion of traffic at both Shitta roundabout and Alaka service lane inwards Stadium.

“Motorists from Shitta roundabout to Ojuelegba are advised to connect Ojuelegba through Akerele street/Ogunlana drive to link up with Itire-Lawanson road.

“Motorists from Shitta roundabout towards Eko bridge are advised to either connect Adeniran Ogunsanya to Bode Thomas to link Alaka or Adeniran Ogunsanya to link Eric Moore road to Abebe Village (Nigerian Breweries Plc).”
