September 16, (THEWILL) – Luis de la Fuente is set to remain at the helm of Spain until July 2030, with the Spanish Football Federation closing in on a new deal for the coach who has overseen one of the most successful periods in the national team’s recent history.
RFEF president, Rafael Louzán, confirmed that the agreement is being finalised, signalling the federation’s intention to maintain continuity after De la Fuente guided Spain to major international honours.
“We have the best coach in our history; the results guarantee it.
“We are finalising the agreement for him to stay with us for a few more years”, Louzán said.
De la Fuente’s record has been central to the decision. Since taking charge of the senior national team, he has guided Spain to the UEFA Nations League title, the European Championship and, most recently, the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Those achievements have transformed his tenure into one defined by silverware and placed him at the centre of Spain’s plans for the years ahead.
The proposed extension would keep De la Fuente in charge through the 2030 World Cup, when Spain will co-host the tournament alongside Portugal and Morocco.
