Kidnappers Of School Children Will Soon Be Arrested, Prosecuted – Minister

March 21, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has said that kidnappers of the recently abducted school children will soon be arrested and prosecuted.

Idris gave the assurance during an Iftar (Breaking of Fast) and interactive session with media executives and practitioners organised by his Ministry at the Armani Events Center, Kano, on Wednesday.

The Minister said President Bola Tinubu had directed all security agencies to expedite action in ensuring that the school children were rescued unhurt and reunited with their respective families.

He urged journalists to desist from amplifying the activities of kidnappers and bandits on the pages of national dailies, other conventional media and social media platforms.

“Mr President is disturbed about how journalists report the activities of kidnappers and bandits on the pages of national dailies. This is, in one way or the other, encouraging these unpatriotic elements; they should not be celebrated,” he said.

The Minister also disclosed that the Federal Government is currently putting adequate modalities in place to ensure a total overhaul of the agricultural sector towards the attainment of food security in the country.

“Mr President is insisting that Nigeria must be self-sufficient in food production, hence proactive measures have been adopted by the Federal Government to ensure adequate provision of assorted fertilisers to farmers at subsidised rates.
