September 25, (THEWILL) – Kano State Government says a 24-hour work is being embarked upon to fast track the completion of two multi-billion Naira Interchange bridges sited in the state capital.

The projects are three-layer interchange bridges being constructed at Dan’agundi junction and a cloverleaf Overpass bridge being sited at Tal’udu roundabout, all worth a total of N27 billion.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday, the State Commissioner of Works and Housing, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, said his ministry had already embarked on measures to extend the construction of the bridges to night hours in order to achieve the objective.

To this end, Ahmad said, lighting devices are being installed and wired at the construction sites so as to introduce night shifts to enable the workers to operate in the night.

He said work had reached 40 percent completion at the Tal’udu site and that it had attained 20 percent completion at the Dan’agundi area.

The Commissioner assured that the two projects would be completed in 2025 as planned, adding, “We are on top of the situation and we are working hard to beat the deadline.”

He said alternative routes had been created around the two Interchange bridges in order to ease the movement of vehicles passing through the areas.

He also stated that adequate information about the alternative routes had been disseminated to motorists to ensure the free flow of traffic in the affected areas.

Ahmed, therefore, urged motorists and the people dwelling areas around the construction sites to exercise more patience and cooperate with the government during the execution of the projects.

He also urged them to report any hitches regarding the movement of vehicles in the affected sites to enable the government to respond promptly.

It will be recalled that Governor Abba Yusuf while laying the foundation of the two bridges, said the major projects were initiated to reduce traffic congestion, ease travel, beautify the city, control pollution, and develop infrastructure in the ancient city.
