Jonathan Fetes Buhari At 75, As President Opts For Private Celebrations

SAN FRANCISCO, December 17, (THEWILL) – Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his 75th birthday.

In a statement issued in Abuja by his Media Adviser, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan described Buhari as a statesman whose rare experience of leading Nigeria at different times, has earned him a special place in history.

“I wish to most sincerely congratulate you on your 75th birthday. My family and I are pleased to join your numerous well wishers to felicitate with you as you mark this day,” the statement read.

“Your Excellency, you are a statesman whose place in history as Nigeria’s leader, at different epochs in our nation’s development journey, is guaranteed.

“I pray that God Almighty that has kept you alive and healthy will continue to protect and strengthen you as you lend your efforts to the bid to realize our collective dreams for a greater and more prosperous nation.

“Congratulations!”

Meanwhile, President Buhari has cancelled the usual military parade by the Presidential Guards Brigade opting to mark his 75th birthday, on Sunday, without any fanfare.

It was gathered that the President does not want anybody bothered on the matter and waved the usual parade that we have witnessed in the past preferring to spend his time with family members and close relatives.

Buhari, the 23rd child of his father, was born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, present-day Katsina State.
