December 26, (THEWILL) – Stamford Bridge icon John Terry is likely to return to Chelsea to help with the club’s youth development.

Since leaving his employment as an assistant head coach at Aston Villa, the former defender has been unemployed. Although he expressed interest in a number of positions in England’s top two divisions, he has so far been respectfully turned down everywhere.

Terry, more than most, will likely understand that landing an English Premier League job at this point in his career would be extremely difficult. But, a gig in the second tier of English football is well within his grasp.

The 41-year-old is set to return to Chelsea, the club for which he played from 1998 until 2017.

Since leaving Chelsea in 2017, the former Blues’ defender has been a regular visitor to the club’s training complex and has attended youngster matches. His home is only a few miles from the base in Cobham, Surrey, which helps with movement to and fro.

That fact combined with his decades of close friendship with former teammate Petr Cech, who is now Chelsea’s Technical and Performance Advisor, as well as loan Technical Officer Carlo Cudicini and Academy Director Neil Bath, has aided his comeback.
