Jesus Set To Miss Arsenal’s EPL Kick-Off After Minor Surgery

August 03, (THEWILL) – Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus, will be absent from the start of the new English Premier League season, as he underwent a minor knee operation, according to Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta’s statement on Wednesday.

Arteta revealed that Jesus had been experiencing discomfort in his knee, which prompted the need for a resolution. While not considered a major procedure, the striker is expected to be out of action for a few weeks, dealing a significant blow to Arsenal, who had seen him impress against Barcelona in pre-season.

Jesus faced setbacks in the past due to knee injuries, including a three-month absence last season following an injury sustained during the World Cup. The talented forward had shown promise since his move from Manchester City, and his recent return to peak condition had raised hopes for Arsenal’s upcoming matches. However, the knee issue necessitated intervention, leaving the Gunners without him on the field.

This latest setback comes at a crucial time for Arsenal, who are set to face EPL champions, Manchester City, in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, followed by the league opener against Nottingham Forest on August 12.

The absence of Gabriel Jesus has left Arsenal disappointed as they lose a key player who had been in excellent form. Arteta expressed his concern over the injury, stating, “Unfortunately, he had a little procedure this morning… It is not something major but he looks to be out for a few weeks, I think… It is a big blow because we had him back to his best, especially the way he played against Barcelona, and he was in good condition and we lost him.” The team will have to find ways to cope with his absence and prepare for the challenges ahead without one of their top assets.
