November 28, (THEWILL) – An electrifying match between Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers saw the home side claim a dramatic 3-2 victory courtesy of two Willian penalties, including a stoppage-time winner.
The match started frenetically, with chances at both ends in the opening 10 minutes. However, it was Fulham who struck first blood when Brazilian Andreas Pereira delivered an inch-perfect cross on the left for Alex Iwobi to tap home.
The visiting Wolves grew into the game though and found an equaliser through Matheus Cunha after lovely buildup play from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde that would have pleased manager Gary O’Neil and their travelling fans.
The second half continued the trend of back-and-forth attacking play between the two sides. Fulham retook the lead just after the hour mark when captain Tom Cairney was fouled in the area, allowing Willian to slot home the penalty. Hwang Hee-chan would later beat Bernd Leno from the spot to level things up once more.
As the match wound down, a handball gave Fulham one final penalty chance in injury time. Willian kept his composure to clinch the winner amidst six minutes of added time, giving Fulham a vital 3 points. The result sees Fulham move up to 14th, while defeat leaves Wolves in 12th spot.
