Speaking with newsmen after voting, the Imo governor expressed satisfaction with the process and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a free and fair election.

The visibly elated governor has also lauded the state’s residents, especially his community, for trooping out en masse to cast their ballots.

He commended the security operatives for ensuring calm and general safety during the election so far.

Similarly, Labour Party’s Achonu, and his wife, Aisha, have cast their votes in the governorship election.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit in Omunumo community, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Achonu, commended INEC on the conduct of the polls.
He appealed to the Commission to redeem its image by ensuring transparency and credibility throughout the voting process.
