Houston Rockets Trade Russell Westbrook To Washington Wizards For John Wall

BEVERLY HILLS, December 03, (THEWILL) – American professional basketball team, the Houston Rockets, have reached an agreement with the Washington Wizards to trade point guard Russell Westbrook for five-time All-Star point guard, John Wall and a future first-round draft pick.

Westbrook, who himself is a nine-time All Star point guard and the 2017 NBA MVP, had spent most of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder before being traded to Houston in 2019. The 32-year-old averaged 27.2 points and 7.9 rebounds in the most recent NBA season.

On the other hand, Wall, who is 30, has not played a competitive game for nearly two years after knee and Achilles injuries respectively. He averaged 20 points and eight assists in his last season and has been with the Washington Wizards his entire career.

The news of the Westbrook-Wall trade comes on the heels of growing reports that the Rockets 2018 MVP shooting guard James Harden, who is the league’s leading scorer, wants a trade from the Rockets. This might not be unconnected to the exit this year of the team’s head coach Mike D’Antoni and general manager Daryl Morey.

Pre-season schedule for the NBA is billed to take off on December 11 and wrap up December 19, while the 2020/21 NBA campaign, a shortened 72-game regular season, is scheduled to get underway on December 22.
