June 24, (THEWILL) – Dean Henderson, a goalkeeper for Manchester United, will spend the entire season on loan at newly promoted Nottingham Forest.

Henderson, who is hoping for regular first-team action, spent the majority of last season serving as David de Gea’s backup at United. In order to replace current starter, Brice Samba, who is in negotiations with RC Lens, Forest has made a move for the player. A loan agreement has been finalised and an official announcement is anticipated.

De Gea will likely serve as United’s starting goalkeeper for the first season under new coach Erik ten Hag, and with one year remaining on his current contract, he may be in line for a new one. Despite having the chance to exercise a one-year extension, De Gea was one of United’s top performers in a dismal season last year.

If it is decided to remove Harry Maguire’s captaincy, De Gea is also a candidate to be the next leader of the team and it was best for Henderson to improve his chances of playing by moving out. Daniel Bachmann, who will likely join the team to replace Henderson as the club’s number two goalkeeper, is also the subject of negotiations between United and Watford.
