November 11, (THEWILL) – Comedienne and actress, Helen Paul, has shared her heartbreaking childhood story about being born as a result of rape.
Helen shared a video on her Instagram page during a recent event that her mother conceived her after a traumatic incident of assault.
Recounting her early years, the comedian expressed the absence of love from her mother’s family members when she moved in with her grandmother after birth.
According to Helen, those who provided financial assistance to her grandmother insisted that the money be utilised for the grandmother’s well-being rather than for Helen, who was conceived as a result of a traumatic incident.
Additionally, she recalled her grandmother emphasising that success was crucial for garnering respect and admiration from others.
When questioned about the origin of her name “Helen,” she disclosed that a clergyman suggested her mother name her after the first person who extended kindness following her birth.
Helen clarified that her aunts requested her grandmother not to bestow upon her the family name when she inquired about her surname. Later, a man approached them, asking them to give her his name.
The comedian shared the video, urging her supporters not to be discouraged by the stigma from close family members, she said, “Never feel rejected, believe it to be your power force. From a comedian in Nigeria to a professor in USA. What a story! Please be alive to tell your story too. All things will work out.”
Despite facing challenges, Helen Paul has triumphed, establishing herself as a successful comedian in Nigeria and attaining a distinguished position as a professor in the United States.
