June 6, (THEWILL)- Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off the construction of 70-kilometre rural access roads across ten communities in the three senatorial districts of the state.

The flag-off ceremony took place at Rijiyar Gwangwan and Mil Goma in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.

A statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the two towns, out of the ten benefiting communities, are set to enjoy various road networks and have been allocated 14.7 kilometres out of the total 70 kilometres.

The road projects, the statement said, will be executed in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Lives & Livelihood Fund (LLF) through the Kano State Agro-pastoral Development Project (KSADP) under the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA).

While flagging off the project, Governor Yusuf said his administration is determined to executive life-changing infrastructure development projects for rural communities in the state.

According to the statement, over N11 billion has been earmarked for the construction of the 70-kilometre rural access roads and road networks in semi-urban areas of the state.

“In Dawakin Kudu where today’s flag-off took place, 7.2km rural access road for Mil Goma to Yankatsari and 7.5km Rijiyar Gwangwan road networks respectively are expected to cost N2.6 billion,” the statement added.

The Governor, during the flag-off ceremony, told the Rijiyar Gwangwan residents that the construction projects were in fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people of the area.

“During my campaign tour of this area, I promised that I would provide dividends of democracy to you, including good roads, and today, we are here to start fulfilling those promises with the flag off of the construction of these roads,” he said.
