October 10, (THEWILL) – The Commander 4 Special Forces (SF) Command, Major General Hilary Nzan, has warned criminal elements to vacate Benue State or risk the wrath of the law.
He said peace is non-negotiable in the State, as the Armed Forces and other security agencies are ready to crush perpetrators of criminality.
General Nzan, who sounded the warning during the flag-off ceremony of Exercise Enduring Peace III on Tuesday, at Tyodugh, Agan Council Ward of Makurdi Local Government area of Benue State, advised kidnappers, armed robbers, cattle rustlers, recalcitrant herders and farmers to think twice before indulging in any activity against the law.
“I can assure you that the military and other agencies out for this exercise will hunt you anywhere you hide and will crush you mercilessly,” he said.
According to him, the operations were aimed at checkmating various skirmishes and criminalities within the State, especially as the yuletide season approaches.
On his part, the Commander 401 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Alamin Rabiu, disclosed that the exercise was aimed at addressing the various security challenges facing Benue State and by extension the entire nation.
He said that the brigade carried out adequate preparations and planning towards achieving success, which culminated in a demonstration of capabilities, firepower and intense cooperation between the brigade and other security agencies within the State, charging the participating troops to maintain a high level of proficiency and effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, who was the Special Guest of honour, said the exercise was a renewal of hope for protection against aggression.
The Governor said that the security agencies were combat-ready to flush out the pockets of insecurity that were still lingering in the State and appreciated them for the sacrifices they were making to keep the country safe.
