Fuel Subsidy: Court Bars NLC, TUC From Planned Strike

June 05, (THEWILL) – The National Industrial Court, Abuja has granted an interim order restraining the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) from proceeding with their scheduled strike, set to commence this Wednesday.

THEWILL recalls that the NLC had threatened a nationwide strike effective Wednesday, June 7, if the new rate of fuel price announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, is not revert to the old rate.

Justice O. Y. Anuwe said the order will remain in effect until the motion on notice is determined.

Meanwhile, the court has fixed June 19 for further hearings on the matter.
