January 23, (THEWILL) – At least four workers have been shot dead and a woman injured following an attack on Saturday evening at a mining site in Dong village, Plateau State.
A community leader, Emmanuel Dong, said the gunmen stormed the mining site around 6pm and shot the workers dead.
Dong added that the injured woman who survived the attack is presently receiving treatment in the hospital.
Spokesperson of the Plateau Police Command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, said its operatives have been deployed to the area.
“We are aware of the attack and four people were killed. The Command has deployed armed police men to the area and calm has returned”, he said.
