BEVERLY HILLS, May 26, (THEWILL) – The family of the late Enobong Christopher Jimmy, recently murdered by a military officer, has appealed to the Federal Government and the Nigerian Army to ensure that justice was served to the letter.

Members of the family also called on Nigerians to join voices with them to ensure that such an act of brutal murder did not get swept under the carpet.

THEWILL reports that Enobong Jimmy met his untimely death after offering a lift to a military officer, identified as Stephen, in his car on his way to Mkpat Enin from Eleme Junction on the outskirts of Port Harcourt.

Speaking with our correspondent in Uyo on Wednesday, brother to the deceased, Mr. Idorenyin Ikpongeyen, regretted that the case might make Nigerians reluctant to offer kindness to strangers for fear of being killed.

He lamented that the deceased, who was on his way to visit his family members in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, left behind a very young family, as his last child was just a year old.

“It is very painful that we had to lose our brother to the hands of an ungodly Nigerian military officer, all because he wanted to steal or reap from where he did not sow. I beg the Federal Government, the Nigerian Army and the general public to help fight this fight for us. I beg the Nigeria government to bring justice to the one who murdered my brother, leaving his two kids and a wife behind,” he said.

The Army officer, according to the family source, did not just shoot his victim, he inflicted several dagger wounds on his chest and made away with his vehicle.

The family member said: “With a car tracking device in the car, the murderer was tracked down, and picked up at one hotel in Ukanafun LGA.

“The military hierarchy was at the state police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia on Monday to pick him up for a Court Marshal before handing him over to the police for prosecution.”

The deceased, Enobong Christopher Jimmy was from Ikot Obio Akai, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, a staff of

Eco Clearing & Forwarding Company, Port Harcourt. He left behind a wife and two young daughters, ages eight and one.
