December 27, (THEWILL) – Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside thousands of people on Wednesday, in Kano, attended the funeral prayer of the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’Abba.
Na’Abba died on Wednesday, in Abuja, after an illness and his body was transported to Kano in an aircraft through the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The deceased’s body was received at the airport by dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of the state, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo and the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jubrin.
The funeral prayer held at the Emir’s palace, at about 5:30 pm, was led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zahraddeen. Na’Abba was buried at the Dandolo graveyard, Gwauron Dutse, Kano.
Others, who attended the funeral prayer included; the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo and the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Sen.Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Born on September 27, 1958, Ghali Na’Abba died in Abuja, on Wednesday morning, after an illness.
Late Na’Abba joined the Peoples Democratic Party and became the party’s candidate for Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, a position he won during the April 1999 general elections.
He subsequently emerged as Speaker of the House of Representatives after the political crisis that led to the exit of the first Speaker of the Fourth Republic, Salisu Buhari.
