March 20, (THEWILL) – The chairman of the directorate for project monitoring and evaluation, Engr Ebiye Tarabina has charged contractors handling Government projects in the state to be conscious of standards and specifications in the execution of their contract jobs.
Engr Tarabina gave the charge during a project inspection tour of the ongoing Nembe/Brass Road on Monday, March 18, 2024.
He said the directorate would continue to insist on standards and specifications, stressing that the projects are very significant for the present and future development of the state.
Engr Tarabina said the Nembe/ Brass road is one of the three senatorial roads in the state adding that the road would boost economic activities of the state when completed.
The project monitoring boss noted that the project would open up Brass Island which has key natural economic assets such as the ongoing liquefied natural gas and the Brass fertilizer amongst others.
He assured the people of Nembe and Brass of the Prosperity administration’s commitment to the completion of the project despite challenges.
Responding, the project manager, Engr Julien of Setraco, the company handling the project said tremendous milestones have been attained on the project in the sand filling, sand cement, stone base and culverts construction.
Engr Julien said pilling work would commence on the first bridge two weeks from now and thereafter designing of the St Nicholas River Bridge and followed by pavement work.
The project manager assured that the company would deliver on the project to the best of standards and within the time stipulated.
He appreciated the Governor of the state, Sen. Douye Diri for finding its company worthy for the construction of major road projects in the state.
He also lauded the chairman of the directorate, Engr Tarabina and the entire team for their doggedness in the supervision of projects in the state.
The chairman was accompanied by the secretary of the board, Engr Sampson Igodo, board members engineers among others.
