Emirate Tussle: Kano Deputy Gov Apologises To Ribadu

May 27, (THEWILL)- Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, has apologised to Malam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President, over misleading remarks that the NSA was behind the smuggling of deposed emir Aminu Ado Bayero into the State.

The Deputy Governor had accused the NSA of abating the conveyance of the 15th emir Aminu Bayero to Kano two days after he was deposed.

Abdulsalam had fingered the Office of the NSA of facilitating the two aircraft that brought Bayero to Kano on Saturday, amid armed military protection.

While the Office of the National Security Adviser has challenged the Deputy Governor to substantiate his claim with evidence or face litigation, the State Government regretted the utterances and the embarrassment caused.

Addressing journalists late Sunday evening, the Deputy Governor disclosed that the government was misled to believe the smuggling of Bayero into Kano with tight military protection was directed by the NSA to the President.

Worried by the overwhelming interest of external personalities in the Kano emirate council matter, Abdulsalam, however, appealed to the Office of the NSA to fish out those attempting to create a state of emergency in Kano.

The Deputy Governor explained that the rebuttal of the presidential aid on national security has further convinced the Kano State Government to withdraw its earlier accusation against the NSA’s office.

The State Government further accused former Kano State Governor and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, of fueling the emirship controversy to create a chaotic situation in Kano.

“First, we appreciate the NSA who has distanced himself from the crisis surrounding the chieftaincy title in Kano.

“We also want to acknowledge the fact that we have been misinformed to hold the belief that the NSA is behind the smuggling of deposed emir Aminu Ado Bayero to Kano.

“It is now clear that Mal. Nuhu Ribado was not behind those two aircraft that brought Aminu to Kano alongside the military that brought him.

“I want to, on behalf of the Government and Governor of Kano State, apologise to the NSA and regret any inconveniences that the allegation might have caused him and his office,” said Abdulsalam
