October 12, (THEWILL) – Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, moved swiftly to fill vacancies created by the resignation of two senior officials in his administration, appointing Akinwale Akinwole as his new Chief of Staff and Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the Due Process Office.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, came hours after Olusegun Ogunwuyi resigned as Chief of Staff and Omotara Adefowope stepped down as Director-General of the Due Process Office.
The changes mark a significant shake-up within the Governor’s Office at a time of heightened political activity and speculation over realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointments were announced through separate letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde.

Akinwole, a grassroots politician and former Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, succeeds Ogunwuyi, whose resignation earlier on Monday generated widespread political interest.
Adedayo, meanwhile, will take charge of the Due Process Office following Adefowope’s departure.
She currently serves as Special Adviser to the Governor on General Intervention and Donor Agencies and will combine that position with her new responsibility as Director-General of the Due Process Office.
Akinwole’s emergence as Chief of Staff places the former Local Government Service Commission chairman at the centre of the Makinde administration at a crucial stage of the governor’s second and final term.

As Chief of Staff, he is expected to coordinate activities around the Governor’s Office and serve as one of Makinde’s closest senior aides as the administration pushes to complete its programmes before leaving office in 2027.
Adedayo will similarly take on additional responsibilities at the Due Process Office while retaining her existing portfolio as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.
Makinde congratulated the two appointees and charged them to bring loyalty, commitment and dedication to their respective assignments in the service of the state.
Makinde Moves Quickly After Resignations
THEWILL reports that the appointments came just hours after Ogunwuyi and Adefowope resigned from the Makinde administration on Monday morning.
Ogunwuyi, in a resignation letter dated October 12, 2026, said his decision to leave office as Chief of Staff took immediate effect but did not state his reason for quitting.
His resignation immediately fuelled political speculation, including suggestions that he could be considering a political realignment towards the All Progressives Congress (APC).
There has, however, been no official confirmation that Ogunwuyi has joined or decided to join the APC.

In his resignation letter, Ogunwuyi avoided any criticism of Makinde or his administration. Instead, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and said he remained proud of the government’s achievements.
He described his service to the government and people of Oyo State as a “great honour” and said he was confident that the state would continue to make progress.
The former Chief of Staff is an experienced politician who previously served in the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives before taking up senior responsibilities in the Makinde administration.
He had occupied several positions under Makinde before becoming Chief of Staff, placing him among the governor’s prominent political and administrative aides.
Adefowope’s resignation on Monday similarly created a vacancy at the Due Process Office, which the governor has now filled with Adedayo.
