September 21, (THEWILL) – The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ongoing governorship election in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has finally cast his vote at his Okaigben Ward 1, Unit 3, Idinrio Primary School, Okaigben, Ewohimi in Esan South East Local Government Area.
THEWILL had reported the delayed arrival of electoral materials and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ighodalo and his wife, Ifeyiwan, who arrived at the polling unit at about 10.30a.m, were accredited for voting at about 12.03 pm.
Speaking after casting his ballot, he expressed displeasure over the slow pace of the process.
Expressing his optimism for victory, Ighodalo said, “The process has been slow, but thankfully, I’ve finally voted.”
Earlier, Ighodalo decried the late arrival of materials in some local government areas in the state, including Owan West.
“I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Though I heard that they will suppress the PDP stronghold, I will still give them the benefit of the doubt. They are still within time. Since we are starting two hours behind schedule, they will have to extend the time for us,” he said.
While decrying the arrest of some of the party’s chieftains in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, Ighodalo said one of his supporters was arrested at one of the Uromi polling units.
