October 21, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, has postponed its Contractors and Partners Chief Executive Officers’ Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Conference scheduled for Abuja, following the confirmation of an Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory.
The conference was scheduled for October 21 and 22, 2026, but NNPC said it had decided to defer the event as a precautionary measure in view of the confirmed case.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, the national oil company said the decision was taken to prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of all participants expected at the conference.
“The NNPC Limited Contractors and Partners CEO HSE Conference, scheduled for 21–22 October 2026 in Abuja, has been postponed as a precaution following confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja. The health, safety and wellbeing of all participants remain our priority,” the company said.
The company expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the postponement and thanked its contractors, partners, speakers and participants for their understanding. It said a new date for the conference would be announced in due course.

The development has triggered heightened public health surveillance in the Federal Capital Territory, with authorities working to identify potential contacts and prevent further transmission
The postponed conference was expected to bring together chief executives of NNPCL’s contractors and partner organisations for discussions on health, safety and environmental standards in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The HSE conference is part of efforts to strengthen safety practices among companies and organisations involved in operations within the petroleum sector.
However, with the confirmation of the Ebola case in Abuja, NNPCL opted to defer the gathering rather than proceed with the planned programme.
The company has not announced a new date, saying further details would be communicated in due course.
