DSS Arrests Delta Chief Obi Elunor

December 11, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Asaba, Delta State, have arrested an Asaba High Chief, Obi Nduka Elunor.
THEWILL gathered that Obi Elunor was arrested on Thursday evening when the operatives raided his palace at Anwai over alleged illegal possession of firearms and land grabbing.

It was learnt that during the operation, which lasted hours on Thursday evening, the secret agency found a gun and other incriminating items at the palace.

Sources familiar with the development said Elunor was arrested following a petition by some members of his community over alleged land grabbing in Ugwu-Nwosu, near Asaba.
However, some other community sources said he was arrested over issues he had with the management of Dennis Osadebe University.

Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State, Churchill Oyewe, said he was not allowed to take the suspect on bail when he met DSS officials on Friday evening, as they claimed the matter was still being investigated.

However, a senior DSS official, who confirmed the incident, said Elunor would either be released on bail or the case would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
