October 22, (THEWILL) – Rangers striker, Cyriel Dessers, has said he believes his goal against Hibernian on Saturday, represents a turning point in his Ibrox career under new manager, Philippe Clement.
The 27-year-old Belgian, who joined the Scottish giants from Cremonese in the summer for around £4m, scored late on in the 4-0 victory over Hibs to register his first goal under Clement’s stewardship.
Posting on Instagram after the match, Dessers wrote: “Big win at Ibrox, the only way is up,” and added an emoji pointing upwards – suggesting he feels his Rangers form will now improve after a difficult start.
Prior to Saturday’s match the striker had scored just three goals in 15 appearances since his move from Italy. However, handed a start by Clement against Hibs, Dessers repaid the manager’s faith with an encouraging all-round display and a debut goal under the new boss.
With a heavy fixture schedule ahead, including European matches, the former Genk frontman will be hoping his prediction proves correct and Saturday’s strike sparks an upturn in his goalscoring fortunes as he aims to make his mark at Ibrox.
