SAN FRANCISCO, February 18, (THEWILL) – A Kano State High Court on Monday granted bail to Deji Adeyanju, after spending 67 days in detention.

Adeyanju was granted bail when his matter came up on Monday morning, with a condition that he must provide sureties and N500,000.

He was arrested on December 13 over allegations he was involved in a murder in Kano in 2005 but the police did not formally arraign him for the alleged murder.

The failure to arraign him for several weeks after arresting him fueled speculation that his detention was politically motivated which the police denied.

“He was asked to provide a senior civil servant in Kano State, and two pieces of land with N500,000.

“We are confident that this requirement would be met and he’ll be released today, an associate of Adeyanju revealed.
