Davido Is First African Artiste To Hit Atlanta Rail’s ‘Golden Spike’

July 26, (THEWILL) – Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, aka Davido, has set a new record as the first African artiste to hit the Atlanta golden spike.

THEWILL writes that the Atlanta golden spike references the ceremonial final spike inserted into a railroad track after it has been laid.

Hitting of the golden spike is a norm which happens before the start of matches played by the Atlanta Football team, Atlanta United FC.

According to goal.com, Davido, who was born in Atlanta to Nigerian parents, was given the honour over the weekend and he became the first African artiste to perform the tradition.

Wearing a jersey of the team, customised with the letter 7 and his name written in gold, the singer shared the video of himself hitting the spike with fans cheering on his Instagram stories.
