September 24, (THEWILL) – Former Real Madrid defender, David Alaba, has joined Udinese on a one-year contract, bringing an end to his time as a free agent following his departure from the Spanish giants.
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed the move, reporting that the Austrian defender had signed an agreement with Udinese that will run until June 2027. The transfer represents a new chapter in Alaba’s career after five seasons at Real Madrid, where injuries affected his involvement during his final years.
Alaba left the Spanish club after his contract expired at the end of the previous season. He subsequently attracted interest from clubs in Italy before agreeing to join Udinese, who moved to secure his services without paying a transfer fee. Romano initially reported that the two parties had reached a verbal agreement before confirming the completion of the deal.
The experienced defender arrives with an impressive résumé built during spells at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Before moving to Spain in 2021, Alaba spent more than a decade with Bayern, winning multiple domestic and European honours while establishing himself as a versatile defender capable of playing at centre-back and left-back.
