August 29, (THEWILL) – Stephen Curry has agreed to a one-year extension with the Golden State Warriors, keeping him with the team through the 2026/2027 season. The deal, worth $62.6 million, brings Curry’s total remaining contract value to $178 million.
The two-time MVP will be 37 years old in the upcoming season but continues to perform at an elite level. Last season, Curry averaged 26.4 points in 74 games and maintained his impressive three-point shooting accuracy, hitting over 40% from beyond the arc for the 13th time in his career.
Despite Curry’s individual success, the Warriors struggled last season, finishing with a 46-36 record and failing to make the playoffs after losing in the Play-In Tournament. The team has missed the playoffs in three of the past five seasons, prompting changes to the roster.
The 2024/2025 season will mark Curry’s first without long-time teammate Klay Thompson. The Warriors have added new players to support Curry, including Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson while retaining key championship teammates like Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins.
Curry enters the new season fresh off winning his first Olympic gold medal with Team USA. He continues to lead the Warriors’ franchise record books in several categories, including games played, points, assists, steals, and three-pointers made.
