November 13, (THEWILL) – Over 1,000 members and Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Boki, Cross River State, have formally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party over the weekend.
This was disclosed during a welcome rally at the Boki Boys High School in Okuundi.
Speaking at the rally, the State Chairman of the party, Venatius Ikem said they have received the defectors wholeheartedly and they have become full-fledged members of the PDP.
“Let me welcome all of you who have chosen to rejoin the PDP and welcome you wholeheartedly.
“In PDP, you have become a full-fledged member and have all the rights and privileges.
“The other party stole our mandate and have never won elections before.
“They are planning to steal your votes but nobody should deceive you that they can steal your votes, protect your votes”, he said.
Also speaking, Professor Sandy Onor, the PDP gubernatorial flagbearer, told the Boki people to ask the APC what they have done for them to seek their votes.
Professor Sandy, who was represented by Francis Bullem, told the defectors that they have made the right decision at the right time and Boki is fully for PDP.
“They (APC) have done nothing to earn your votes, look at your forest, look at the Okunndi to Iruan Road, tell them to show you what they have done.
“People say there is no PDP in Boki but we have seen the PDP in Boki.
“You have made the right decision and come at the right time, Boki is critical for the PDP.
“Go and vote, deliver your polling unit and protect your votes”, he said.
PDP Chairman, Boki Chapter, Fabian Okwaji, said Boki has spoken with one voice and decided to support Sandy and all PDP candidates.
He said Cross River State has been mismanaged and needs a saviour. He promised that Boki will be part of the victory of Professor Sandy Onor.
“This is not a normal rally and we have gathered to declare our total support for our incoming governor, and Sandy has the key to bring development to Cross River State.
“Our state has been mismanaged and needs a saviour, Boki will not be left behind in the victory come 2023.
“Boki has spoken with one voice, we will be part of Sandy’s victory and have declared support for Sandy as well as all PDP candidates”, he said.
