November 05, (THEWILL) – Rapid response and effective deployment of men of the Nigeria Police today by the new Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Bathlomew Nnamdi Onyeka, averted bloodbath as thugs loyal to Governor Lalong had mobilised and besieged the premises of Langtang North local government council to violently take over and install Rimven Zulfal of the APC who was last Tuesday ousted by the Court as an impostor.
According to the Executive Chairman of the Council, Joshua Laven Ubandoma, but not for the timely and professional intervention of the Police Commissioner, APC hoodlums would have violently abducted and removed him from office Friday morning.
Speaking at the Council Secretariat in Langtang amidst tight security, the chairman said that the Police Commissioner acted swiftly when he learnt of the grand mobilization of APC youths and their hoodlums to remove him and replace him with the sacked impostor, Rimven Zulfal of the APC.
Last Tuesday, a High Court in Jos presided over by Justice Kunda Ishaku sacked Rimven Zulfal of the APC, noting that on October 9, 2021, when local government elections were conducted in the State, there was no vacancy in Langtang North because the three-year tenure of Hon Joshua Laven Ubandoma of the PDP is still subsisting.
Justice Kunda Ishaku described the decision by the State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC to hold elections in Langtang North, against wise counsel as a display of “rascality”, and awarded N1.5m as cost against them, and admonished Zulfal not to ever parade himself as Chairman of Langtang North.
Meanwhile, the new Plateau State Police Commissioner, Bathlomew Nnamdi Onyeka has declared that his modus vivendi in Plateau State is “Plateau first”. He said he hopes to work hand in hand with the host communities to promote peace, security, and safety through commitment and professionalism.
