Court Sacks Delta Labour Party Reps Member Okolie

JUly 24, (THEWILL) – The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, Delta State, has sacked Ngozi Okolie, a Labour Party (LP) member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The Tribunal in a judgement on Monday, held that Okolie was not a member of the Labour Party as of May 28, 2022, when the Party held its primary election.

According to the ruling, Okolie was not properly sponsored by the party.

The tribunal, therefore, declared the runner-up in the February 25, 2023, National Assembly election, Ndudi Elumelu, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner.

Elumelu, the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, had approached the tribunal, to disqualify and annul Okolie’s election.
