July 26, (THEWILL) – The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Akwa Ibom State Branch, has called on the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, to provide patrol vehicles and other logistical supports to the state police command.

This, according to the organisation, would boost the efficiency of the police to combat the recent upsurge of armed robbery, cultism and other criminal activities in the state.

In a Press Release, dated Monday, 26th July, 2021, and endorsed by Otuekong Franklyn Isong and Comrade (Barr.) Christopher Ekpo, Chairman and Secretary respectively, CLO noted that residents of Akwa Ibom no longer sleep with their eyes closed because of the high rate of crime.

According to the release, the organisation is alarmed at the sudden disappearance of police patrol vehicles in the state.

The CLO, however, commended the state Governor, for prior interventions to enhance the efficiency of the police in the state in the face of dwindling funding by the Federal Government.
